RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that 2026-27 basketball season tickets are on sale now as part of a special Helmets to Hoops promotion.
Fans who purchase basketball season tickets before 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 21 will be enrolled in the promotion, which gives fans access to a presale window providing the opportunity to purchase single-game football tickets equal to the number of basketball season tickets purchased. For example, buying five basketball season tickets will allow the purchase of up to five single-game tickets for each home football game.
On Aug. 23, the presale window will open for those who take part in the promotion. Participants will be able to purchase single-game tickets for all five home football games at once, eliminating the rush to purchase a limited availability of single-game tickets each home week.
Basketball season tickets are being offered at a special price for new purchases made only during the promotion and will go back to regular pricing starting Aug. 22:
General Admission: $115 (regular price $150)
Reserved Sections A, D, H: $150 (regular price $200)
Reserved Sections B, C, G: $205 (regular price $275)

The 2026-27 basketball season will bring 29 exciting contests to the UTRGV Fieldhouse. The season starts with a doubleheader on Nov. 2 as the women's team hosts Arlington Baptist at 5 p.m. and the men's team faces Texas A&M-Kingsville at 7:30 p.m. Three postseason teams will visit the Valley during UTRGV's non-conference contests, including Prairie View A&M's men's team which won a First Four game in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, and North Dakota State and Abilene Christian – a pair of women's teams ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 throughout the 2025-26 season. The Vaqueros are set for several competitive Southland Conference battles. There will be six Saturdays that bring women's and men's doubleheader action to the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
UTRGV's basketball teams had the best combined seasons in school history in 2025-26. The women's basketball team is coming off the winningest season in program history which saw the Vaqueros earn the first postseason road victory in program history as they reached the second round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament. The men's team won a program-record 14 conference games and recorded back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1988-90.
