EDINBURG – University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis head coach
Stephanie Wooten-Quijada announced on Friday the addition of
Tara Donaho to the roster for the spring semester.
Donaho, currently a senior at Belton High School, is ranked 24
th in the state by tennisrecruiting.net. She will be graduating high school early to join the Vaqueros in the spring for the dual match season.
"I am thrilled to have Tara join our UTRGV family," Wooten-Quijada said. "She is talented, athletic and competitive. Her competitive spirit will make a huge impact on our team. Her values match those of our program and we are fortunate to have her join our team in the spring."
Donaho has posted a record of 47-7 over the 2014-15 season, which includes a win over Delara Zamani, who is a five-star recruit as ranked by tennisrecruiting.net.
Donaho won the district fall championship in 2012, 2013 and 2014 while also earning All-District Singles honors as a sophomore and junior. She was also reached the quarterfinals at the 5A Regional Tournament as a sophomore and was a 6A Regional Quarterfinalist as a junior.
Donaho will add depth to the Vaqueros who welcomed three newcomers this past fall.
