Athletics to Host “Orange Out” Games and Costello Concert During the Best Week Ever

EDINBURG — It's been coined as the "Best Week Ever", and UTRGV Athletics is ready to end it with a bang.

After helping to kickoff the "Best Week Ever" with a men's and women's soccer doubleheader last Friday, UTRGV Athletics will conclude this week with three "Orange Out" games and a free concert featuring Costello on Sept. 4, as well as an additional "Orange Out" game on Sept. 5.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the community are encouraged to come out and celebrate a new era of excellence for the Rio Grande Valley and UTRGV Athletics.

As the calendar changes to September, Hunger Action Month begins, and UTRGV Athletics will use its four "Orange Out" events to collect donations for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley to help raise awareness about food insecurity in the community.

Fans are encouraged to donate four non-perishable food items at the box offices to gain free general admission to the following games:
  • Fri., Sept. 4: Volleyball vs. Incarnate Word, 11 a.m.
  • Fri., Sept. 4: Volleyball vs. Southern University, 6:30 p.m.
  • Fri., Sept. 4: Men's Soccer vs. Buffalo, 7 p.m.
  • Sat., Sept. 5: Volleyball vs. San José State, 6:30 p.m.

A total of 200 free "Orange Out" t-shirts will be given on a first come first serve basis to fans that donate four non-perishable food items at one of the "Orange Out" events.

Costello will perform at the end of the men's soccer match on Sept. 4. All fans in attendance can enjoy the concert for free.

"We are very excited to partner with UTRGV as it kicks off the fall semester," Costello lead vocalist Max Moreno said. "The students are ready, the staff is ready, and you can feel the excitement in the air as we get closer to 'The Best Week Ever.'"

"We can't wait to hit the state and put on a high-energy show," Costello keyboardist Chad Tolar said." We will all be making history together."

The soccer match and concert will be at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex, which is located on Jackson Rd., just south Schunior and the Region One Education Service Center.

The volleyball matches take place at the UTRGV Fieldhouse located on the east side of campus.
