EDINBURG – University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis head coach Dann Nelson announced on Tuesday the signing of Zane Kohrs to a National Letter of Intent for the 2017-18 academic year.
 
Kohrs comes to the program from Dallas where he attends Hillcrest High School and has earned three letters in tennis. He is three-time district champion and a three-time regional qualifier while also qualifying for state last season.
 
"I am thrilled to add Zane to our program," Nelson said. "Zane currently has excellent coaches working with him and he came highly recommended. Zane has a fighting spirit on the court that will translate well in college tennis. Zane comes from a great family and is a very respectful young man and that is the type of player we want in our program."
 
Kohrs has posted a record of 32-5 throughout his first three years of high school and has competed in USTA tournaments all over the state, where he is ranked in the top 30 in the Texas Standings.
 
Kohrs will look to make an immediate impact to the program while adding depth to the roster.
