Todd Lowery announced on Tuesday the signing of 5-11 outside hitter
Barbara Thais Krug to a National Letter of Intent for the 2016-17 academic year.
Krug joins the program from Blinn College, where she averaged 0.28 kills and 2.12 digs per set in 116 sets (37 matches). She raised her level of play in conference competition, averaging 1.19 kills on .283 hitting to go with 3.00 digs in 21 sets (six matches).
Originally from Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Krug was selected for the Junior National Team in 2014, and was a three-time All-State honoree at Martin Luther High School. She played her club volleyball for for Ginastica (SGNH), Uniao (GNU) and Cascavel, earning best server honors in 2013 and best hitter honors in 2012.
"Barbara has great ball control and should make an immediate impact on both our serve-receive and defense," Lowery said. "She has the type of experience we are looking for as she was practicing with the Junior National Team in Brazil, so she will be able to handle the pressure this level brings."
