EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that a 126 student-athletes made the Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 while serving as full-time students as part of a team during the spring semester.
 
Twenty student-athletes earned perfect GPAs of 4.0. As a whole, the department's cumulative GPA, encompassing 225 student-athletes, is 3.060, including a 3.027 mark in the spring. In total, 57.3 percent of the 220 student-athletes eligible for the award earned AD Honor Roll recognition.
 
Baseball had the most student-athletes named to the AD Honor Roll, with 21, while men's tennis had the highest percentage, with all eight of their student-athletes earning the honor.
 
Men's tennis had a department-best 3.668 GPA. Volleyball had the highest GPA among women's teams at 3.461.
 
"Our student-athletes are continuing to excel by putting in a lot of hard work both in the classroom and in study hall," UTRGV Director of Athletics Chris King said. "Their grade point averages are higher than that of the rest of the undergraduate student body. We're proud of the job they are doing."
