EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) baseball team dropped the second game of a doubleheader against Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) 7-6 on Monday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium during the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union.

Joseph Collazo led UTRGV (10-7) by going 2-of-4 with two doubles, a career-high four RBI and two runs scored. It was his second multi-hit game of the season and the first multi-double game of his career. Collazo finished the doubleheader 4-for-7 with two doubles, a walk, four RBI and two runs scored.
Collazo drove-in his first two runs with a double in the fourth. He later scored on a wild pitch to bring UTRGV within 5-3.
Then, in the eighth, Collazo hit another two-run double before scoring on an error to bring UTRGV within 7-6.
Cole Carter got the win after allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four in six innings.
David Worrell pitched two scoreless innings for his first save.
TAMUCC (5-11) scored twice in the third, three times in the fourth and once in the fifth against graduate student
Connor Grant (2-3), who lasted 4.2 innings.
UTRGV is back in action on $2 Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Arlington Baptist in game that will be televised nationally on American Sports Network and throughout Texas on Spectrum Sports channel 323. Gates open at 6.
