CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team fell 3-4 in a tight match to Texas A&M-Corpus Christ on Friday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
 
UTRGV (3-4) jumped out to the early 1-0 lead as they won a pair of doubles matches to take the point. The team of sophomores Dennis Boisseau and Clément Sarradin opened doubles with a 6-3 win over William Mottet and David Ambrozic on court two.
 
The team of senior Koby Jansen and junior Yehonatan Kaufman clinched the point for UTRGV after defeating Francois and Okkie Kellerman 6-4 on court one.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (8-1) answered back in singles play by winning on courts four, three, and five to take the 3-1 lead. Jansen got another point for UTRGV with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mottet on court one.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi clinched the win with a win on court six before Boisseau added a win on court two over Francois Kellerman. Boisseau dropped his first set 4-6 before bouncing back with a 6-2, 7-5 win in the second and third. 
 
With the win Texas A&M-Corpus Christi gains two points in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union. UTRGV still leads 18.5 points to 11.5 points with the next showdown event coming up on February 20 when the baseball teams battle for three points. 

UTRGV will be back in action on February 24 when it hosts Lamar University at 2 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
