Final Results
MCALLEN – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's golf team finished in sixth place after a team score of 310 to close out the UTRGV Invitational on Tuesday at McAllen Country Club.
UTRGV finished with a three-round team score of 927 finishing four strokes behind McNeese State for fourth and just three strokes behind Weber State for fifth. Texas State held on to their first day lead to win the team title after posting a final round 309 for a three-round total of 884.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished in second place with a three-round score of 905 as it earned two points in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union. Both schools are now tied in the standings at 20.5 points apiece.
Junior
Emma Mesta climbed seven spots in the final day to finish tied for 12
th as she led UTRGV with a three-round score of 229. She saved her best round of 75 for the final round of the tournament.
Senior
Jessica Young finished tied for 21
st after finishing with a three-round score of 232 as she posted a final round 78. Junior
Michelle Moroles turned in a final round 76 for a three-round score of 233 as she finished tied for 24
th.
Freshman Briana Garza finished tied for 38
th with a three-round score of 238 after posting a final round 85. Sophomore Tilda Green posted her second 81 of the tournament as she finished tied for 48
th with a three-round score of 244.
Junior
Shweta Mansingh, who played as an individual posted her second round of 75 as she finished tied for eighth with a three-round 228. Sophomore Rachel Yu finished tied for 48
th with a three-round score of 244 after a final round 80.
Texas State's Sasikarn Somboonsup won the individual title after finishing with a three-round score of 219 with a final round 74.
UTRGV will next travel to Peoria, Illinois for the Bradley Spring Invitational from March 12-13.
