CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team had its two-match win streak snapped after falling 2-5 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
 
UTRGV) (6-6) got out to an early advantage in doubles after the duo of senior Dominque Esparza and junior Doris Aleksovska picked up the 6-2 win over Jelena Dzinic and Carolina Bulatovic on court two. 
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-4) answered back with wins on courts three and one to take the doubles point. 
 
In singles, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on court six to push its lead to 2-0 before sophomore Anastasia Belyaeva defeated Bulatovic 6-3, 6-0 on court four. 
 
Texas A&M- Corpus Christi put the match away with wins on courts three, two and five before Esparza got UTRGV another point with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Hortense Boscher on court one.
 
With the loss, UTRGV now trails Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union 22.5 points to 20.5 points. The next showdown event will be on March 20 when the baseball teams face off in Corpus Christi. 
 
UTRGV will be back in action on Monday March 12 when it travels to Houston to face the University of Houston at 3 p.m.,
