HOUSTON – Freshman
Annaleagh Stahl made history by securing The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) swimming & diving program's first top-eight individual finish at a conference meet on day three of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Swimming & Diving Championships Friday at CRWC Natatorium.
Stahl earned seventh in the 400 individual medley final after swimming a program record and personal best time of 4:25.29 in the preliminary round to qualify for the "A" Final. Stahl entered the championships with the 20
th fastest 400 individual medley time in the conference before shaving nearly nine seconds to jump into the top eight.
Sophomore
Olivia Votava finished 24
th after qualifying for the "C" final in the preliminary round with a season best 4:40.28
The team of Stahl, Votava, and freshmen
Ida Rudelius and
Sarah Garcia finished ninth in the 400 medley relay with a program record 4:00.61. Stahl's lead off split marked a personal best and program record 56.21 in the 100 backstroke.

The morning began with the 100 butterfly where Garcia won her heat with a personal best 1:03.41 while sophomore
Hailey Garcia-Rivas and freshman
Alexia Gonzalez hit season best times in the event.
In the 200 freestyle, sophomore
AJ Rogers and freshmen
Madiana Lofgren,
Abygail Martinez, and
Audrey Trevino swam personal best times while senior
Elisa Davila hit a season best time in the event.
The trio of freshmen in the 100 breaststroke reached milestones as
Caitlyn Brown and
Caitlynn Rubio hit personal best marks and
Diara Aleman achieved a season best time.
In the 100 backstroke, Garcia-Rivas and freshman
Lauren Uribe achieved season best marks.
The Vaqueros will continue their run at the WAC Championships Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the CRWC Natatorium which will be broadcast on
WAC International. Live results will be available on

The 1650 freestyle will begin at 3 p.m. and the finals for the preliminary events will begin at 6 p.m. The finals will be broadcast domestically on
ESPN+.
