Edinburg, Texas - Two winning streaks came to an end
as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-2) defeated Texas-Pan American (5-2), 5-2 today.
The loss ended the Broncs four match winning streak as well as their seven match
home winning streak.
Oliver Steil (So./Brunssum, The
Netherlands/AF North International School) reached deep to pull off a thrilling
6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) win over Oscar Roman at Number 5 Singles. Tom Mangelschots (Sr./Limburg, Belgium/KA 2 HS) defeated David Plasencia,
6-3, 7-6 (7-5) at Number 4 Singles for his third straight win.
"I'm a little disappointed with our
performance." Said head coach Eduardo Provencio. "I mean when you're up,
6-2 at Number 2 Doubles and can't hold on, it's a real match killer. Overall,
I'm impressed. We had some guys that had some real courageous matches
particularly Oliver and Nik Porter (So./Tunbridge Wells,
England/Bennett Memorial School)."
Texas-Pan American remains at home against
Laredo College on February 26. The match, which is an exhibition, is scheduled
to start at 1:00 p.m.
