Revenue generated through ticket sales is a significant source of funding for the UTRGV Athletics Department (“UTRGV Athletics”). These funds support scholarships, academic services, sports medicine and other services for UTRGV student-athletes.
This UTRGV Athletics ticket-resale policy applies to all current and future UTRGV Athletics accounts, regardless of donor status.
UTRGV Athletics allows season-ticket holders or individual-game ticket holders to resell or transfer individual game tickets to other fans if they are unable to attend an event.
Unfortunately, some season-ticket holders apparently have taken advantage of their season-ticket benefit by selling the majority of their tickets on secondary markets – redirecting funds away from the support of UTRGV student-athletes for the holders’ own personal or business gain.
Ticket Use and Resale Policy
UTRGV Athletics continues to encourage ticket holders to resell or transfer individual game tickets if they are unable to attend an event.
However, UTRGV Athletics reserves the right, in its sole discretion and without notice, to cancel and refund at any time (subject to retention of processing fees) any ticket renewal opportunity or ticket order from any account that exhibits or has exhibited activity consistent with that of purchasing tickets with the primary intent of resale for profit.
UTRGV Athletics further reserves the right, in its sole discretion with notice, to require accounts holding tickets with required seat donations to make the full donation annually to retain their tickets for any account that exhibits or has exhibited activity consistent with that of purchasing tickets with the primary intent of resale for profit.
UTRGV Athletics also reserves the right, in its sole discretion and without notice, to prohibit, prevent, or otherwise restrict access to donor ticket presales or post-season purchases for accounts that have been identified as exhibiting activity consistent with that of purchasing tickets with the primary intent of resale for profit.
Reducing Fraudulent Tickets
For any ticket sold on a secondary market that results in a fraudulent transaction, the ticket holder account is subject to tickets being revoked without refund. The season ticket holder or individual game ticket holder is solely responsible for the use of tickets on their account.
Reconsideration Form
Season-ticket holders who believe their tickets have been revoked in error may request reconsideration by completing the
reconsideration form. Reconsideration forms will be evaluated by UTRGV Athletics staff. Season-ticket holders who submit a reconsideration form will receive a response via email within four (4) weeks of submission.
Should a season-ticket holder seek reconsideration, prior ability to purchase season tickets does not guarantee continued access to purchase season tickets and should not be used as a basis for reconsideration. The reconsideration form should include all relevant information supporting the season-ticket holder’s position that they have not been purchasing season tickets with the primary intent of reselling those tickets for profit.
We appreciate your cooperation with this policy. Following this policy will allow UTRGV Athletics to continue to sell tickets for their intended purpose and support our students-athletes.
Ticket Holder Agreement & Consent
All tickets are a revocable license and may not be used for advertising, promotion of other commercial or trade purposes, including (without limitation) advertising, promotions, contests or sweepstakes, without prior written consent of UTRGV Athletics Department.
By using the ticket, the ticket holder agrees not to transmit, distribute, or sell (or aid in transmitting, distributing, or selling) any description, account, picture, video, audio, or other form of reproduction of the event or any surrounding activities (in whole or in part) for the event for which this ticket is issued. Breach of any terms of this license may subject the ticket holder to all legal remedies available to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
