EDINBURG - Jaclyn Muszynski (Sr./Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) saved one of her best performances for her last appearance at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Muszynski's 22 kills, 4 service aces, 16 digs and .381 hitting percentage helped The University of Texas-Pan American's volleyball team (16-12) beat Texas A&M-Kingsville, (9-23), 34-32, 30-11, 30-28.

UTPA jumped to a 19-11 lead in the first game before the Javelinas scored eight straight points to tie it. The teams battled back-and-forth before a kill from Cathi Netemeyer (Jr./Los Fresnos, Texas/Iowa/Los Fresnos HS) ended the first game at 34-32. The Lady Broncs hit a sizzling .417 in game two. In the third game, the lead went back and forth until freshman Chrissie Carrigan's (Victoria, BC/Mount Douglas Secondary School) kill broke a 28-all tie. Muszynski's kill then ended the match.

Setter Karen Lyons (Fr./McAllen, Texas/McAllen Memorial HS) directed the offense with 36 assists while libero Carol Marcengo (Fr./Curitiba, Brazil/SPEI HS) had 27 digs.

Muszynski, a three-time All-Independent first team selection, leads Texas-Pan American in career kills (1558), hitting attempts (4342), games played (449) and digs (1309). She is tied for second in service aces (108), sixth in block assists (108) and eighth in total blocks (130). She holds single-season records for kills (453 in 2002) and hitting attempts (1317 in the same season), is the first Lady Bronc player with both 1000 kills and 1000 digs, and the first player to record three seasons with 300 kills and 300 digs.

Muszynski is one of only three UTPA players to record more than 30 kills in a match, and has 15 matches in which she has had 20 or more kills, more than anyone else in Lady Bronc history. The 2001 Independent Offensive Player of the year, Muszynski was named Independent Defensive Player of the Week last week.
"Jaclyn came up big for us," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "She showed why she is one of the best players who have ever played here. Carol also came up big with 27 digs in a three game match. It was a good way to finish up our home schedule. We won our last three in a row and that gives us momentum for the rest of our schedule."

Texas-Pan American returns to action next Monday, November 10th when they visit Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M.
