Texas - Texas-Pan American (3-7) beat Prairie View A&M, 6-0 and lost 6-1 to
Lamar. All the single matches vs. Prairie View were played in a pro set style
due to time constraints. UTPA will take on McNeese State, Friday, April 9. The
match is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
In the Prairie
View match, Angela Saenz (Jr./Edinburg, Texas/Premont HS) picked up her
first singles win of the season by beating Jessica Wright, 8-2 at Number
Five Singles. One was the lucky number for Ana Pena (Jr./McAllen,
Texas/Nikki Rowe HS). She and Natalie Gonzalez (Fr./McAllen, Texas/Nikki
Rowe HS) beat Laina Magaya and Wright, 8-1 at Number Three
Doubles. Pena also beat Alicia Jennings at Number Three Singles
by the same score.
The Lady Broncs
picked up two victories against Lamar. At Number One Doubles, Vanessa Hedinger (Fr./Therwil, Switzerland/Gymnasium Berwil) and Elysia Sloan
(So./Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville HS) defeated Kendall Gibbs and
Elena Korbout, 8-4. Hedinger made it a sweep when she beat
Korbout, 6-3, 6-1 at Number One Singles.
