Corpus Christi, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-0 Southland, 15-7) clinched the Southland Conference regular season title with a 7-0 win over Texas-Pan American (1-4 Southland, 9-8). UTPA will next compete in the Southland Conference Tournament in San Antonio, April 30 and May 1-2.

Despite the score, the Broncs did not go quiet into the night. At Number 4 Singles, Oliver Steil (So./Brunssum, The Netherlands/AF North International School) lost the first set 6-4 and then came back to beat Javier Bacaicoa 6-1 to force a tie breaker. Bacaicoa won the tie breaker 10-5. At Number One Singles, Jeremy Salvo (Jr./Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Centennial Secondary) lost a tough three-setter to Goncalo Figueiredo. At Number Two Doubles, Rehman Esmail (So./Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/North Carolina State) and Nik Porter (So./Tunbridge Wells, England/Bennett Memorial School) put up a battle before falling to Figueiredo and Oscar Roman, 8-6.

"We looked so much sharper than we did last week against Southeastern Louisiana," said Assistant Coach Kati Gyulai. "We have some really close matches today. Gary (Bianco) (Fr./Annecy France/Lycee Berthollet), Jeremy, Rehman and Oliver put up a good fight. We had our chances to take some matches but it just didn't happen. We feel really confident about the Southland Conference Tournament. We are ready to get down to business."
