The University of Texas - Pan American men's tennis team took their first win of the spring season in conference play against Nicholls State. The Broncs took the 7-0 win on Saturday (Feb. 12) played in Corpus Christi, TX.

The Broncs were able to take the doubles point with wins at second and third doubles. Nik Porter (Tunbridge Wells, England/Bennett Memorial School) and Alejandro Pacheco Jr. (McAllen, TX/McAllen Memorial H.S.) were able to come away with a 8-2 victory over Brandon Fredrick and Alexandru Silav while Pierre Cantu (El Paso, TX/Eastwood H.S.) and Gary Bianco (Annecy, France/Lycee Berthollet) didn't give up a game winning 8-0 over the duo of Josh Chauvin and Colin Campo. In number one doubles play, Jeremy Salvo (Conquitlam, B.C., Canada/Centennial Secondary) and Rehman Esmail (Conquitlam, B.C., Canada/North Carolina State) dropped a 9-8 (6) decision to Sebastien Normand and Fabien LeFranc.

In singles action, the team played strong winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Esmail was the only Bronc who had to battle out the win in the number three spot as he faced Normand. After dropping the first set, 6-4, Esmail took control of the match winning the next two, 6-3, 6-4.
