Broncs Suffer Another Loss To DBU

Dallas Baptist had another hot offensive nigh collecting 21 hits in the contest over The University of Texas - Pan American baseball team who fell in their second consecutive game to DBU, 15-2, on Friday (April 29) in Dallas, TX.

The Broncs didn't waste anytime getting on the board as they scored two early runs to take the lead 2-0 in the first frame. Leading off in the inning, Louie Alamia (Edinburg, TX/Edinburg North H.S.) hit a single, followed by a Zach Smith (Sanger, TX/Sanger H.S.) triple to score early. Jacob Jones (Kress, TX/Texas Tech University) would then bat Smith in to post the second run of the inning.

The Patriots would then tie things up after loading the bases on three singles in the third inning of play. With the game tied, 2-2, DBU would play tough defense holding the Broncs scoreless through the fourth and fifth innings while taking advantage of the game on offense with three runs in the two frames.

The Patriots would continue to rally offensively producing a seven run inning in the bottom of the sixth, including a two-run homerun to increase the score to 12-2.

The Broncs were unable to score in the late innings where they posted only two of their eleven hits from the contest. DBU's three run inning in the seventh would take them up, 15-2, and seal the victory with neither team scoring during the final two innings of play.

UTPA's Ricky Broyles (Longview, TX Northeast Texas C.C.) would suffer the loss on the mound for the Broncs moving him to 1-2 on the season. DBU's Randall Taylor took the win for his seventh on the year.

Jones led the team offensively posting three hits on the night, including one of the teams two RBI in the contest, and his third triple of the season. Smith would be the only other Bronc to record an RBI on the night.

DBU saw three players finish with three hits on the night en route to the 21 hit performance that included three home runs.

That Broncs will be back in action for the final game of the series with Dallas Baptist on Saturday (April 20) at 12:00 p.m.
