The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis team dropped its final match at the H.E.B. Collegiate Team Championships in Corpus Christi, TX to the University of Texas at San Antonio by a 4-0 count on Saturday (Mar. 4).

In singles action, Andrew Bost (Corpus Christi, TX/Mary Carroll H.S.) dropped a hard-fought match 6-1, 7-5 to Joe Olfindo in the fourth flight. In the fifth and sixth flights, Enrique Montemayor (Brownsville, TX/Hanna H.S.) and Danny Farias (Harlingen, TX/Temple College) lost 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-1 respectively.

The top three flights were unable to finish play as the match was decided before all matches were concluded.

The doubles point went to UTSA with Adam Becker and Rubin Fernandes taking down Nik Porter (Tunbridge Wells, England/Bennett Memorial School) and Bost 8-3 in the second flight. In the third flight, the duo of Montemayor and Farias lost the 8-1 decision to Olfindo and Shaun Stewart.

UTPA returns to the court on Saturday (Mar. 11) at home when the men and women both host Laredo Community College. The men play at 10:00 a.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
