Three Lady Broncs Earn All-United Basketball League Accolades

MaHogany Daniel (Corpus Christi, TX/Mary Carroll H.S.), LeKeisha Gray (Muskogee, OK/Butler County C.C.) and Tamara Vaughn (Houston, TX/Blinn College) all represented The University of Texas-Pan American on the 2006-07 All-United Basketball League Women's Basketball Team, which was announced on Monday (Mar. 19).

Daniel was selected to the All-United Basketball League Second Team a week after the UTPA senior earned honorable mention All-Independent honors for the second time in her career. The Corpus Christi, TX, native finished her senior season with the squad averaging 6.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.9 blocked shots and 1.7 steals per game.

The Lady Bronc low post player recorded 21 games of five or more rebounds, including seven games of 10 or more boards, to go along with seven games of 10 or more points. Daniel posted a pair of double-doubles this past season against Louisiana-Monroe and New Jersey Institute of Technology. The UTPA senior concluded her playing career with the Lady Broncs by becoming the first player in program history to record 500 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocked shots.

Gray was selected as the United Basketball League Newcomer of the Year and earned a spot on the UBL All-Newcomer Team for her efforts this past season for the Lady Broncs. The UTPA junior was recently selected as an honorable mention All-Independent award winner and earned a spot on the Independent All-Newcomer Team.

The UTPA junior led the Lady Broncs with a 10.6 scoring average to go along with 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game in her first season with the program. The Lady Bronc guard started 28 of 29 games for the Valley squad and posted 12 games of 10 or more points while grabbing five or more rebounds on 11 occasions.

The UTPA junior ranked first on the Lady Broncs in field goal attempts, field goals made, three-point field goal attempts, three-point fields made, total points, scoring average, assists, assists per game, steals and steals per game while finishing second in total rebounds and rebounds per game.

Vaughn was voted to the United Basketball League All-Newcomer Team a week after receiving a spot on the Independent All-Newcomer Team. The UTPA junior finished second on the Lady Broncs with a 9.7 scoring average to go along with 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

The Lady Bronc outside threat started 26 of 28 games this past season and ranked in the top-two in field goal attempts, field goals made, three-point field goal attempts, three-point field goals made, total points and scoring average. Vaughn posted 12 games of 10 or more points to go along with 13 games of four or more rebounds in her first season with the program.

The Lady Broncs finished the 2006-07 season with a 11-17 record, which were the fourth most wins in program history, to go along with a program-record seven wins at the UTPA Fieldhouse this past season.
