The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis program suffered a 5-1 setback to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in San Antonio, TX, on Sunday en route to dropping its record to 6-11 on the 2007 campaign.
The Broncs received their only victory in singles' action where Nirvick Mohinta (Calcutta, West Bengal, India/University of New Orleans) handed Ben Melangon a 7-5, 6-4 setback in the number-six portion of the lineup.
Ivan Avila (Mexico City, Mexico/Texas Southern University) fell in the top flight in singles' action to Piotrek Banas by scores of 6-2 and 6-2 while Gary Bianco (Annecy, France/Lycee Berthollet) dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Dusan Tabak in the number-two position of the rotation.
Shashank Vij (Helsinki, Finland/University of New Orleans) fell to Shaun Allison by scores of 6-1 and 6-4 in the number-three position while David Lopez-Heredia (Panama, Republic of Panama/Eckerd College) suffered a 6-1, 6-2 setback to Jorge Delgado in the number-four spot of the rotation. Brett Bernstein (Sugar Land, TX/Austin H.S.) suffered a close 7-5, 6-4 setback in the number-five position to Arlen Domoney.
There were no doubles' matches between the Broncs and Ragin' Cajuns in Sunday afternoon's match-up in San Antonio.
The Broncs will be back in action on April 1st when UTPA travels to Beaumont, TX, for a Southland Conference match against Lamar. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
