The University of Texas-Pan American women's volleyball program dropped a three-set decision on the road to Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX, on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Broncs dropped their overall record to 7-12 on the 2007 campaign while the Ladyjacks captured their sixth straight victory en route to securing a 12-5 record.
The Ladyjacks jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage over the Lady Broncs after recording victories of 30-10 and 30-12 in the first two sets then were able to seal the victory with a 30-21 triumph in the third and final frame
Noelle Mayor (Missouri City, TX/Dulles H.S.) led the Lady Broncs with eight kills to go along with a career-high 16 digs while Chelsea Blakely (Houston, TX/J. Frank Dobie H.S.) dished out a team-high 20 assists in the UTPA setback.
Lauren Riley collected a double-double in the match with a 12-kill, 17-dig performance to go along with five blocks while Briana Taylor collected 10 kills and seven blocks for the Ladyjacks. J.J. Jones dished out a match-high 22 assists, and Laurel Kuepker recorded a match-high 18 digs.
Stephen F. Austin held advantages over the Lady Broncs in kills (48-24), hitting percentage (.322-.017), assists (37-24), service aces (10-3), digs (58-50) and total blocks (10.0-2.0).
The Lady Broncs will be back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 2) in Beaumont, TX, when the Valley's program squares-off against Lamar.
