Broncs win at Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA - The University of Texas Pan-American Broncs men's basketball team's (17-13) defeated the Cal-State Baskersfield Roadrunners (8-19) 67-60 tonight at Rabobank Arena. The Broncs have won three in a row and have clinched the best record in Independent Basketball.

The Broncs jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first 2:21, but the Roadrunners responded with a 9-0 run to take an 11-7 lead with 12:53 to go in the first half.

After that, though, the game was always close with neither team going on a serious run.

The Roadrunners led by five with 10:36 to play, but the Broncs turned out 18 points to take a lead with 1:17 left and never looked back.

Senior guard Paul Stoll (Lansing, MI) led all scorers with 20 points, five assists and thee steals while senior forward Zach Trader (LaPorte, TX) and junior forward Emmanuel Jones (Washington D.C.) each had 17 points while combining for 14 rebounds.

Both teams shot 36% in the first half as the Roadrunners led 25-24, but the Broncs out-shot them 56%-44% in the second half to win the game.

The Broncs are scheduled to close the season on Thursday, February 28th at 6:05 p.m. at Savannah State (13-17).
