The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis recorded a 6-0 win over Prairie View A&M this afternoon in Prairie View, TX.
Due to inclement weather, the Broncs were unable to play in the doubles' competition.
UTPA improved their overall record to 3-2 and are off to one of the best starts since the 2003-04 season.
The Broncs dominated singles' action, as Ivan Avila (Mexico City, Mexico/Texas Southern) started off the top-flight with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Andy Narido while newcomer Ashwin Vijayaragan (Andhrapradesh, India/ Kenedy Vidya Bhavan H.S.) collected a win of his own over Nicolas Bateman, 6-2, 6-2 in the number-two spot of the rotation.
Andrew Irving (Hamilton, New Zeland/St. John's College) handed Jose Garcia a 6-1, 6-2 setback in the number-three spot while Nirvick Mohinta (Calcutta, West Bengal, India / University of New Orleans) recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win against Michael Armstead in the fourth flight.
Brett Bernstein (Sugarland, TX/Austin H.S.) collected a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Jeremy Hubb in the fifth spot while Marcus Dornauf (East Launceston, Tasmania, Australia /Scotch Oakburn College Prep) closed out the final singles' match with an easy 6-1, 6-0 win against Brandon Simpson in the number-six spot of the rotation.
The Broncs will be back on the courts Saturday (Feb. 9) when they face-off against Tennessee Tech at 9 a.m.
