Broncs Go Past Aggies in 10-3 Victory Against NMSU Aggies

The University of Texas-Pan American baseball program went on to beat the New Mexico State Aggies in a 10-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Presley Askew Field.

The win brings the Broncs to a 9-14 overall record on the season.

The Broncs took an early start by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth. The Broncs would score one more run in the sixth before going on a six run-run in the top of the seventh.

The Aggies did not score until late in the contest against the Broncs bringing in single runs in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Starting pitcher Matt Shepherd was to gain the win for the Broncs making him 2-1 on the season. Shepherd pitched six complete innings giving up only one run.

Newcomer David De Leon was to finish the game pitching three complete innings and collecting the save.

Joey Mendoza would finish the game going 2-for-5 with three RBI's and a run with fellow teammate Roly Gonzalez finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Jordan Rutenbar would finish the contest 2-for-5 with two RBI's, two runs and the only homerun hit by the Broncs.

The Broncs wrap-up the three-game series against the New Mexico State Aggies on Sunday (Mar. 30) with first pitch slated for noon (central).
