The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs dropped a 13-3 decision on Sunday (May 11) against TCU in Fort Worth, TX at the Lupton Stadium.

The setback dropped the Broncs to 18-33 overall while the Horned Frogs improved to 35-16 and continued their six game winning streak.

The Broncs quickly found themselves in a 6-0 deficit, as TCU collected six runs on four hits and two errors in the bottom of the first.

Back-to-back singles by the Horned Frogs started the inning and a hit-by-pitch to Clint Arnold loaded the bases for Matt Carpenter who walked, scoring Ben Carruthers from third. A Chris Ellington single through the left side plated two runs in Arnold and Bryan Kervin. Jimmie Pharr singled to center field scoring Carpenter and Pharr came around to score on an error by the shortstop.

The Broncs back on track producing two runs on four hits in the third frame. With one out, Mendoza started a rally with a single to left field and advanced to third on a Nick Spears double to left center. Mendoza crossed home plate flowing an Andrew Perez single up the middle. Jeremy Johnson kept the inning alive with a single through the right side, scoring Spears and making the score 6-2.

TCU added a run in the bottom of the third following a homerun by Ellington and recorded two more homeruns in the fifth frame, making the score 10-2.

It was all TCU the rest of the way as they combined for four runs in the last three frames. The Broncs collected a solo run in the top of the ninth but it wasn't enough to overcome the Horned Frogs, falling 13-3.

The Broncs will complete the three-game series tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the Lupton Stadium.
