Huskies Defeat Lady Broncs, 3-0

The Lady Broncs (4-12, 2-3) traveled back to Houston, Texas this weekend, this time to face the Huskies of Houston Baptist (6-13, 2-3), and dropped a 3-0 decision this Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon at the Sharp Gymnasium.

UTPA dropped 25-20 decisions in all three sets versus the Huskies. The first set was the only set where the Lady Broncs held a lead, at some point throughout the match, but minor mistakes caused the Huskies to catch up and tie the score at 17 on a service ace by Heather Leaverton. The Huskies then lead the remainder of the set.

Junior Marci Logan recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs, while also collecting one block (block assist). Ariana Bermea collected 16 assists for the Lady Broncs.

Houston Baptist's Sarah Hazlewood finished the evening with 11 kills on 17 total attacks and one error connecting on a .588 hitting percentage along with two blocks (two block assists).

The Lady Broncs return to the UTPA Fieldhouse this Thursday, Oct. 8 when they face North Dakota at 7:00 p.m. The Oct. 8th match will be dedicated to Dig for a Cure breast cancer campaign.
