The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball program dropped a 79-56 decision over Long Beach State this Sunday (Nov. 22) afternoon at the South Padre Island Convention Center in South Padre Island, Texas.
The Lady Broncs started off with a two point lead on a jumper by Bianca Torre and held onto it until the 6:57 mark. UTPA held their largest lead at the 13:23 mark on a jumper by Rose Esther Jean. The Lady Broncs then faced their largest deficit on the last basket of the half with 41 seconds left on the clock.
UTPA managed to hold a one-point lead in the second at the 15:13 mark on a three-point shot by Maria Ben Erlingsdottir. The 49ers then tied the game on a free throw shot by Ally Wade and took the final lead of the contest to defeat the Lady Broncs 79-56.
UTPA had two Lady Broncs in double-figures with Rachel Hester scoring a team-high 14 points and Bianca Torre 13 points. Rose Esther Jean nearly missed her first double-double of the season as she scored six points and nine rebounds.
Torre added six assists, one rebound, one steal, while Hester added two rebounds and two assists.
Long Beach State's Ally Wade scored a game-high 22 points along with seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
The Lady Broncs hit the road as they travel to Denton, Texas to face North Texas on Nov. 25. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
