Lady Broncs Drop 71-47 Decision to Rice

HOUSTON, TX----The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball program dropped a 71-47 decision to Rice in the opening round of the Gene Hackerman Invitational, Friday evening (Dec. 4), hosted by Rice, at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Andrea Garza came off the bench to lead the Lady Broncs with 10 point and 7 rebounds in 16 minutes of play. Bianca Torre and Rachel Hester each added eight points to round out the Lady Bronc's leading scorers.

For Rice the tandem of Jackie Stanley and Brianna Hypolite led all scores with 18 points apiece, while Amenemope McKinney added 10 points.

The Lady Broncs shot just 29.6% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the three-point line and 52.4% from the free-throw line. Rice shot 40.0% from the field, 28.6% from behind the three-point arc and 83.3% from the free-throw line.

The Lady Broncs return to action Saturday (Dec. 5) as they take on Jackson State in the final day of the Gene Hackerman Invitational.
