The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis program dropped their first Southland Conference match to No. 60 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 6-1, this past Friday (Feb. 13) at the HEB Tennis Center in Corpus Christi, TX.
The Broncs lone win came from Aswin Vijayaragavan in the number-one spot of the rotation as he defeated Mikhail Pavlov 7-5, retired.
Nirvick Mohinta played in the number-two spot of the rotation as he was defeated by Laurent Montoisy, 6-2, 6-3. Andrew Irving followed with a loss to Dmitry Novikov, 6-2, 6-2.
The Bernstein brothers dropped their matches as Beau Bernstein fell short to Jose Zunino, 6-3, 6-4 in the number-four spot of the lineup and Brett Bernstein fell short to James Langford, 6-2, 6-4. In the final spot of the rotation, Marcus Dornauf dropped his match, 6-3, 6-4 to David Pace.
The Broncs struggled in doubles as they dropped all three matches. Vijayaragavan teamed up with Mohinta in the number-one spot as they fell short to Pavlov and Novikov 8-4. Beau Bernstein and Irving competed in the number-two spot of the rotation as they fell short to Montoisy and Zunino, 8-4. In the number-three spot of the lineup, Brett Bernstein and Dornauf were defeated by Langford and Pace, 8-3.
The Broncs will be back in action on Feb. 20 as they to Las Cruces, NM and face Montana State with match-time slated for 9:00 a.m. CT.
