Nick Weiermiller pumped in 25 points but it wasn't enough for the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs to overcome Senior Night as Chicago States defeated the Broncs 92-75 at the Jones Convocation Center Saturday (Feb. 28) in Chicago, IL.
In addition to Weiermiller's 25 points, Nathan Hawkins scored 14 points while Andrew Smith chipped in 10 points rounding off the Broncs leading scorers.
"Nick had a great game. He played hard, shot well and he kept us in the game," said Tom Schuberth, heads men's basketball coach. "I hope it (his success) carries over to Monday's game with NJIT."
Chicago State had four players in double figures, led by David Holston with 24 points, John Cantrell with 22, Mike Wilson with 16 and Carl Montgomery with 14.
"We played a good team on their homecoming. We got off to a slow start, and we couldn't fight back and lost to a good ball club. Chicago State had plenty of seniors; it just wasn't our night," added Schuberth.
The Broncs square off New Jersey Institute of Technology on March 2 for their season finale.
