After defeating Nicholls State 4-3 this past Wednesday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center, the men's tennis program (1-8) hit the road to face Southern Methodist this Sunday (Mar. 1) and dropped a 6-1 decision to the Mustangs at the Turpin Tennis Stadium.

The Broncs did not earn the point in doubles' play as they dropped all three matches. SMU's Chris Hooshyar and Artem Baradach defeated Aswin Vijayaragavan and Nirvick Mohinta 8-6, while Darren Walsh and Adham el-Effendi defeated Brett Bernstein and Marcus Dornauf 8-4 in the number-two spot. Robin Gahgen and Gaston Cuadranti handed Beau Bernstein and Andrew Irving an 8-2 setback in the number-three spot.

The Broncs lone win came from freshman Beau Bernstein in the number-five spot as he handed Adham el-Effendi a 6-2, 6-1 setback.

Vijayaragavan fell short to Fahgen, 6-3, 6-3 in the top spot of the rotation, while teammate Nirvick Mohinta suffered a 6-1, 6-1 setback to David Costa in the two-hole. In the third spot, Irving was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by Baradach.

Chris Hooshyar defeated Br. Bernstein 6-3, 6-3 in the number-four spot of the rotation while Cuadranti defeated Dornauf 6-2, 6-0 in the last spot of the rotation.

Men's tennis will be back in action next Sunday (Mar. 8) as they play host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
