Frogs Blank Broncs

April 10, 2009

The University of Texas-Pan American baseball program suffered a tough 3-0 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs this Friday (April 11) afternoon at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

As the Broncs drop to 6-29 on the season, the Frogs improve to 21-10 for the season.

"We haven't had consistency this whole season. Today our pitching was great but we came up a little short on the other end," said head coach Manny Mantrana.

As the TCU Horned Frogs left the Broncs hitless in tonight's contest, the Broncs managed to hold down the Frogs to four hits and three runs.

Broncs starting pitcher Mike Lankford recorded a career-high six strikeouts and one walk as he pitched his first complete game of the season. Unfortunately, Lankford was tagged with his fourth loss of the season.

"This was Lankford's best performance all year," added Mantrana.

TCU's Zach Jordan finished 1-for-4 for the Frogs with one RBI, one run and a double, while starting pitcher Walker Zelly was tagged with his first win of the season.

The Broncs wrap up the three-game series against TCU tomorrow with first pitch slated for 12 noon.
