The University of Texas-Pan American baseball program (6-30) suffered an 18-0 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday (April 11) afternoon at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
"Their (TCU) pitching staff was probably by far one of the best we've faced this season, but ours just wasn't their today," said head coach Manny Mantrana.
The TCU Horned Frogs were able to hold the UTPA Broncs to one hit as they remained scoreless in today's contest.
Unlike yesterday's complete game by Mike Lankford, the Broncs went through five pitchers against the Frogs.
The Broncs struggled to retire the first inning as starting pitcher Doug Roth gave up TCU's five runs in the first inning on one-third inning of work. UTPA gave up a single run in the second, another seven runs in three frames and five runs in the final inning of play.
Keeping the Broncs from going back-to-back no hitters was Garrett Bivone as he marked the Broncs only hit in the bottom of the ninth on a single to leftfield.
The Broncs next hit the road as they travel to Nacogdoches, TX to face the SFA Lumberjacks this Wednesday, April 15 in a scheduled double-header with first pitch slated for 12 noon CT.
