The University of Texas-Pan American baseball program (9-33) dropped a 16-5 decision to the UTSA Roadrunners this Tuesday (April 21) afternoon at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
"The guys played hard but they struggled out of the bullpen," said head coach Manny Mantrana.
As the Broncs scored in the opening inning, UTSA answered back as they scored runs in the second, third, fourth and sixth inning.
A 39 minute-sixth inning would cost the Broncs as UTSA scored 13 runs to give the Roadrunners a 16-2 lead. The Roadrunners managed to hit two homeruns and a grand slam off of the Broncs pitching staff.
UTPA scored a single run in the third on a RBI single to second by Garrett Bivone allowing Ryan Vest to score. The Broncs scored another two runs in the sixth as Jose Mendoza and Nick Spears crossed the plate on a double to left by Bonham Hough. Mendoza would finish the evening 3-for-4, RBI, and one run.
The Broncs last run came in the eighth on a RBI single to left by Mendoza to score Abraham Garcia.
