EDINBURG, Texas – The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) women's basketball program aims to extend its season win streak to 4 Monday, Nov. 22 against the Javelinas of Texas A & M-Kingsville (TAMUK). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
The Broncs (3-0) enter the game following a 70-57 win over Texas A & M-Corpus Christi Saturday night, and last week recorded wins over Texas Southern on the road and at home against Our Lady of the Lake.
The Javelinas (0-2) travel to the Rio Grande Valley following road losses to St. Mary's and Central Missouri at the St. Mary's Tournament Nov. 13 and 14.
UTPA enters Monday's contest with three players averaging double digits in the points category. Ce'Monay Newell has recorded 18.3 points per game, while Bianca Torre is averaging 10.3 points per game. Adana Opara has tallied double digits in two areas with 11.7 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game.
Victoria Gonzalez leads TAMUK, averaging 11 points per game, followed by Michelle Ikeni with 8.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Clean out your cabinets before coming to the game Monday evening, because the women's basketball team is holding a canned food drive, to benefit Edinburg families this Thanksgiving. Donations will be accepted at the door.
