EDINBURG, Texas – The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) women's basketball team is set to host the Texas A & M International Dustdevils tonight, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
UTPA (6-6) enters Tuesday's contest following back-to-back wins over North Texas at home and on the road at Texas State. The Broncs remain undefeated at the UTPA Fieldhouse this season.
Sophomore guard Bianca Torre currently leads the Broncs with 19.7 points per game. In addition to leading her squad, Torre ranks first in scoring in the Great West Conference and 19th in the NCAA. From behind the three-point arc, Torre is shooting 47.3 percent, which also ranks her at 19th in the NCAA in 3-point field goals made per game.
Closely behind Torre, junior guard Ce'Monay Newell is posting 16.3 points per game and shooting 42 percent from 3-point range.
Junior Erin Lewis leads the Great West Conference in assists with 6.7 per game, and also currently ranks sixth in the NCAA.
The Dustdevils (2-8) travel to Edinburg following a loss at Tulsa and two losses at the Henderson State Classic to Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist.
Senior Johnna Williams leads the Dustdevils posting a double double with 11.9 point per game and 11.2 rebounds per game. Freshman Samantha Chacon is posting 10.7 points per game.
