EDINBURG, Texas – The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) women's basketball team (7-6) travels to Wichita, Kan. Sunday, Dec. 19 for a 2:05 p.m. contest against the Wichita State University Shockers (5-4).
The Broncs enter Sunday's game on a three-game winning streak following wins over North Texas, Texas State and Texas A & M International.
Sophomore Bianca Torre leads UTPA with 19.7 points per game and is currently ranked 19th in the NCAA in points per game and three-point field goals per game. Ce'Monay Newell is averaging 17.2 points per game and is ranked second in the NCAA in three-point field goals made per game. Erin Lewis is averaging 7.3 assists per game for a sixth place NCAA ranking.
The Shockers are coming off a 78-66 defeat to UC Davis, but previously topped Savannah State 67-41 Dec. 10. On Dec. 2, Wichita State faced the Great West Conference's South Dakota and fell 57-47.
Haleigh Lankster leads the Shockers with 14 points per game, followed by Morgan Boyd and Jessica Diamond, who both are tallying 7.7 points per game.
