Final Stats

In the fourth game of the Al Ogletree Classic, the Broncs picked up their third win of the season as UTPA defeated the Panthers 9-2 this Saturday (Feb. 27) evening at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Broncs got off to an early lead as they scored a lone run in the second frame. Garrett Bivone scored on an error by Prairie View's Rafael Perez.

UTPA then followed with two runs in the next frame as Abraham Garcia scored on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Vincent Mejia. Two batters later, Alex Carnall crossed the plate on a single down the middle by Garrett Bivone.

The Broncs scored another lone run in the fourth as Jose Mendoza crossed the plate on a single to right by Alex Carnall.

Prairie View was able to score against the Broncs in the top of the fifth as Kyle Bible scored on a single up the middle.

Freshman Bryant Elliott scored the Broncs fifth run in the sixth on a double down the left field line by Alex Carnall.

Angel Ibanez and Stuart MacInnes scored the Broncs next two runs in the seventh as Ibanez scored on a double down the left field line by MacInnes. MacInnes then crossed the plate after stealing a bag and scoring on a ground out to first by Jose Mendoza.

The Panthers scored their final run of the evening in the top of the eighth as Jason Thomas scored on an error by Mendoza at shortstop.

UTPA scored their final two runs on back-to-back plays as Abraham Garcia scored on a single to center, by Angel Ibanez, and Vincent Mejia scored on another single to center by Garrett Bivone.

Alex Carnall finished the evening 4-for-5 with two RBI, two doubles, a run, and a stolen base. Garrett Bivone finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run, and a double.

The Broncs wrap up the Al Ogletree Classic as they face UT-Brownsville at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (Feb. 28) afternoon.
