Final Stats

OREM, UT--The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball team defeated Utah Valley University (UVU) Thursday evening (Feb. 4), 71-61 at the UVU Events Center in Orem, Utah.

The Lady Broncs had three players in double figures led by Bianca Torre with 23 points and seven assists. Marah Guzman added 14 points and seven rebounds followed by Maria Ben Erlingsdottir with 13 points.

"This was a big win for us. We had plenty of people contributing to this win," said head coach Denny Downing. "We had to over come early foul trouble and play solid basketball and we did, with help for our bench," added Downing.

For UVU, Julie Smith had a game high 23 points and Jenna Johnson added 10 points to round out the leading scorers.

With the win, the Lady Broncs improve to 4-1 and a two-way tie with the University of North Dakota. The Lady Broncs return to action on Saturday (Feb. 6) as they travel to Chicago to take on Chicago State. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
