SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Bronc baseball team dropped a 9-3 decision to the Centenary College Gents Saturday afternoon at the Shehee Stadium in Shreveport, La.

Taking the early lead, the Gents' Tell Ross and Keegan Acker scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a single by shortstop Alex Todd.

UTPA responded in the top of the second when first baseman Garrett Bivone made it to home plate following a double from freshman Bryant Elliott.

Senior second baseman Ryan Vest contributed a solid third inning starting with a single. He then advanced to second base on wild pitch by Centenary's Justin Kraft, and scored one run for the Broncs on a single by Stuart MacInnes.

However, the Gents found momentum scoring one run in the bottom of the third, two runs in the fourth and another four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving Centenary a 9-2 lead.

Elliott tallied his second RBI of the game in the top of the eighth with a single that sent shortstop Vincent Mejia to home plate; however, it was not enough to help the Broncs come back to secure the win.

The Broncs are now 9-10 for the season and close this three-game series against the Centenary Sunday, April 4 at noon (CT). Wednesday, April 7, the team will head to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on Stephen F. Austin University in a doubleheader at noon (CT).
