CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Jessica Jammer scored a game high 25 points to help lead the Islanders of Texas A&M Corpus Christi to an 84-70 win over the University of Texas-Pan American Wednesday night at the American Bank Center. The loss for UTPA split the season series with the Islanders after a 70-57 win over TAMUCC at the UTPA Fieldhouse on November 20th.
The Broncs (8-10) got the gamed started in vintage fashion with a three-pointer from the right wing by 
Ce'Monay Newell. The Broncs extended their lead to five on an 
Erin Lewis Jumper from the left elbow to make the score 11-6 with 15:38 remaining in the first half.
The Islanders (2-11) grabbed the lead at 15-14 with 13:29 remaining in the period after a pair of free throws from Islander forward Jessica Jammer. The Islanders extended the lead to 26-21 when Ashley Darley drained a three with just under eight minutes to play in the half. 
Adanna Opara answered back for the Broncs scoring five straight points capped off by a three-point play to tie the game at 26.
The Islanders rallied again with a 7-0 run and led 33-26 with 4:22 remaining until halftime. The Broncs trailed 38-34 at the intermission and shot just 39% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. Jammer was red-hot for TAMUCC as she scored 16 of the team's 38 first-half points.
The home floor defense by TAMUCC extended into the second half. The two squads would trade baskets over the first five minutes of the second period. After 
Maria Ben Erlingsdottir's jumper pulled UTPA within three, the Islanders pushed back with a run of their own. Jammer's lay-up from the left block at the 12:47 mark extended the Islander lead to 12, their largest of the game, with the score 54-42 TAMUCC.
The Broncs answered back with a 10-1 run and pulled back within three after a 
Donna Jackson lay-in to make the score 55-52 with 10:11 remaining. The Islanders took control back for good. Jade Davis' free throw capped off a 10-2 Islander run to extend the lead to 11 at 65-54. The Broncs would not get closer than seven points of the lead the remainder of the game.
The Broncs struggled with their outside shooting all night finishing with just a 33% shooting percentage and a disappointing 20% percentage from downtown. Newell led the Broncs with 16 but made just four of her 15 field goal attempts. 
Bianca Torre had trouble from the outside as well chipping in with 15 points but made just one of her six three-point attempts. 
Erin Lewis chipped in with 11 points and a game high nine assists 
Adanna Opara added 12 points and nine boards.
Jammer was efficient with her 25 points making eight of her 14 field goal attempts and six of seven free throws. She also added five rebounds. Adrienne Scott played a strong game for TAMUCC scoring 19 points and with a game high 16 rebounds. TAMUCC. The Islanders shot 43% from beyond the arc and 41% from the field overall.
The Broncs continue their season long eight-game road trip next Thursday when they travel to Newark, NJ to face the New Jersey Institute of Technology in their first Great West Conference game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
