BRONCS SEARCH FOR SECOND HOME WIN OF SEASON

EDINBURG, Texas- The University of Texas Pan American women's volleyball team will try for its second home win of the season as they play host to Utah Valley for their second game of a six-game home stand at the UTPA Fieldhouse on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
 
The Broncs (5-15, 1-2) are coming off a 3-0 Great West Conference loss at the hands of Houston Baptist this past Saturday afternoon.  UTPA held leads in each set against the Huskies but could not hold on to the lead falling 25-18, 25-21, and 21-17.
 
Krysta Freitas led the way for the Broncs against HBU as she posted a team-high nine kills while Ijanae Holman chipped in eight kills.  Shauna Miller had a team-high 15 assists.  Defensively, Juri Franzen had 13 digs in the match. 
 
On the season, Holman leads the team with 2.41 kills per set.  Juri Franzen leads the team defensively with 2.62 digs per set.  Shauna Miller averages 7.36 assists per set. 
 
The Wolverines come in at 14-6 on the season and 3-0 in Great West Conference play.  Chelsey Heaps leads UVU with 2.65 kills per set and also adds 2.19 digs per set.  Tawny Hughes and Patti Flagg lead UVU defensively with 2.68 digs per set. 
 
Thursday night is the annual Pink Out game where everyone is encouraged to wear pink in support for breast cancer awareness.  All proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.
