OREM, Utah- The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) volleyball team continues their road trip as they head to Orem, Utah to face off against the Utah Valley Wolverines in another conference match Saturday afternoon at the UVU Athletic Center.
The Broncs are coming off of a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-17) loss against the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. The Broncs could not find their rhythm in Grand Forks as the Fighting Sioux kept them at bay for the three sets.
Michelle McNamee and
Diara Reynolds each had four kills as
Juri Franzen paced the defense with 14 digs.
On the season,
Ijanae Holman leads the Broncs with 2.32 kills per set. Shauna Millers sets the offense with 7.10 assists per game.
Juri Franzen averages 4.09 digs per set while having a team-high 24 service aces.
Utah Valley enters play on Saturday with an 18-7 record and 7-1 in Great West Conference play. The Wolverines are coming off of a 3-1 victory over Houston Baptist on Thursday night. UVU had four players with double-digit kills as Chelsey Heaps and Kalani Norris led the way with 12 kills each. McKenna Tait led the defense with 24 digs and also added three service aces.
Chelsey Heaps leads the Wolverines with 2.71 kills per set and also contributes 2.36 digs per set. McKenna Tait paces the Wolverine defense with 2.89 digs per set and has 33 service aces on the season. Brooklyn Campbell averages 9.40 assists per game for the UVU offense.
UTPA dropped their last match against UVU as the Wolverines swept the Broncs 3-0 on Oct. 13 at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Saturday's match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
