PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas- The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) volleyball team was able to book end their three-match road-trip with victories after picking up a 3-2 win over the Prairie View A&M University Panthers Monday night at the Nicks Center. The Broncs (5-14) rallied down 2-0 to take the next three sets to pick up the dramatic victory.
UTPA went into the intermission trailing the Panthers (3-13) 2-0 dropping each of the first two sets by identical 25-15 scores.
The Broncs came alive in the third set winning 25-19 and evening the match at 2-2 with their fourth set victory at 25-23. The Broncs completely stole the momentum from the Panthers as they ran away with the final set 15-7.
Sarah Davis was the team leader in kills on Monday with 10 on 22 total attacks.
Ijanae Holman chipped in with nine kills and four digs defensively.
Michelle McNamee chipped in with seven kills.
Shauna Miller led the team in assists with 30. Libero
Juri Franzen led the team defensively with 15 digs.
For the Panthers, Christine Ruckman led the way with 14 kills. Jasmine Houston picked up 12 kills on offense to chip in for PVAM. Shanice Faison led the Panthers defensively with 14 digs.
The Broncs return home on Saturday as they continue their Great West Conference schedule against in-state rival Houston Baptist. The match is scheduled for a 2 PM start time at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
