EDINBURG, Texas- The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team returns home to start a six-game home stand starting with conference rival Houston Baptist University on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
The Broncs (5-14, 1-1) are coming off of a 2-1 road trip where they posted a 3-2 victory over Chicago State and a 3-2 victory over Prairie View A&M. Their only loss of the road trip came at the hands of NJIT that ended UTPA's three-match win streak.
Last time out, UTPA rallied after trailing 2-0 at intermission and took the final three sets 25-19, 25-23 and 15-7 against Prairie View A&M.
Sarah Davis led the way with 10 kills and
Ijanae Holman chipped in with nine kills and four digs.
Shauna Miller led the team with 30 assists and
Juri Franzen led with 15 digs defensively.
On the season, Holman leads the team with 2.41 kills per set and Franzen leads with 3.91 digs per set. Miller is tops with 7.36 assists per set.
Houston Baptist (15-5, 2-0) is coming off of a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday night.
Heather Leaverton who paces the Huskies with 2.87 kills per set. Defensively, Courtney Whittleman leads with 5.00 digs per set and Victoria Weatherly leads the team with 9.24 assists per set.
