BRONCS SET TO CLOSE OUT HOME SCHEDULE AGAINST CHICAGO STATE

EDINBURG, Texas- The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) volleyball team will wrap up their 2011 home schedule Saturday at noon at the UTPA Fieldhouse against Great West Conference rival Chicago State. 
 
The Broncs are coming off of a battle with NJIT where they fell 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 22-25, 13-15).  Both teams exchanged sets before NJIT took the final set, where the Broncs at one point led 12-10.  The loss extends UTPA's match losing streak to four. 
 
Diara Reynolds led the way for the Broncs with 15 kills and she also added eight kills.  Shauna Miller led the offense with 38 assists while Macey Singleton chipped in 15.  Juri Franzen paced the defense for the Broncs with 28 digs and she had five service aces to add to her team-high.
 
On the season, Ijanae Holman averages 2.24 kills per set to lead the way for UTPA.  Miller averages 7.06 assist per set to pace the offense.  Senior Sarah Davis has 58 blocks on the season while teammate Maria Kliefoth has 42.  Juri Franzen leads the defense with 4.02 digs per set and has 25 service aces on the season.
 
Chicago State is coming off of a 3-0 loss at the hands of Western Illinois.  The Cougars are 1-25 on the season and 0-7 in Great West Conference play.  Their only win came against Judson on August 30. 
 
Rachel Levitt leads the Cougars with 2.20 kills per set and Emily Kranolisch paces the offense with 6.35 assists per set.  Defensively, Mysta Townsell leads the way with 4.23 digs per set.
 
The last time the Broncs and Cougars met, the Broncs grabbed the 3-2 victory on Sept. 29.  The Broncs lead the all-time series 10-0.
