EDINBURG, Texas- The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) baseball team opens Great West Conference play on Friday night as the Chicago State Cougars come into Edinburg Baseball Stadium for the opening game of a four game weekend set. First pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
The Broncs (9-10) are coming off a pair of road losses earlier in the week to #15 TCU in Fort Worth. The Broncs scored just one run in the series, but did post a pair of strong pitching efforts including Tuesday's effort from freshman
Luis Flores who threw a complete game and allowed one earned run in a 2-0 loss to the Frogs.
The Broncs are led by
Stuart MacInnes who has the best average on the club at .373 with seven extra-base hits and seven RBI.
Vincent Mejia has been a top run produer as well for the Broncs with a .308 average and seven RBI.
Chicago State (4-17) is entering Friday on a seven game losing streak. Their last victory was back on March 27th, a home win. The Couagrs are led by Michael Carpen who htis a .37 5 clip with three doubles and 5 RBI. Miguel Camacho is their lead run producer with 12 RBI on he year.

Cody Plunk (1-2, 4.11 ERA) to the mound tonight to open the series. No starter has been named for Chicago State.
