EDINBURG, Texas - The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) volleyball team will look to break and nine-match losing skid on Tuesday night when they play host to in-state rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the UTPA Fieldhouse. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time.
The Broncs (1-10) are coming off a trio of losses on the TAMUCC campus at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Islander Classic. The Broncs dropped all three matches by 3-0 final scores to North Texas, TAMUCC and Towson.
Maria Kliefoth was named to the All-Tournament team after posting six kills in the final match.
The last time the Broncs were home they had a strong showing against Texas Tech. The Broncs held leads in both the opening and final sets in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Red Raiders. UTPA held a 24-18 lead in the opening set before falling short 27-25.

Ijanae Holman who averages 1.91 kills per set. Freshman
Michelle McNamee averages 1.65 kills per game chipping in on the offensive side of the net. On defense,
Juri Franzen and
Krysta Freitas set the pace for the Broncs. Franzen avergaes 3.83 digs per set while Freitas averages 3.03 kills per set.
The Islanders (5-5) are coming off a 3-2 loss to North Texas in the final match of their Islander Classic. They won their first two games of the tournament against UTPA and Towson by 3-0 and 3-1 scores respectively.
The Islanders have five players averaging over two kills per set. Isabella Arcidiacono is the leader at 2.67 kills per set. Brianna Brink and Brooke Alverson chip in with 2.47 and 2.38 kills per set respectively. Micah Nolan leads the Islanders on defense with 5.11 digs per set.
The Broncs have lost both matches to the Islanders this season. The Broncs have a 15-12 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools, but have lost six straight in the series.
