Baseball Drops Game Two of Doubleheader

CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team fell to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 4-1 in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday at Chapman Field.
 
Kyle Tokunaga was impressive for the Broncs (1-2) in his debut as a reliever, pitching three innings of one-hit baseball, striking out three.
 
The Islanders (2-1) got strong pitching for the second-straight game, as starter Tim Keller (1-0) pitched five innings of one-run ball, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out four. Franco Pace pitched three scoreless innings and Jacob Dorris pitched one for his first save.
 
The Broncs got their run in the third. Shane Klemcke hit a one-out single and Alex Howe followed with a double to move Klemcke to third. Dillon Englehart followed by reaching on an error that allowed Klemcke to score to the game at 1-1.
 
The Islanders took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning. Jordan Lee hit a two-out double and then Jonathan Gonzales hit a grounder to third, but a throwing error allowed Lee to score to make it 2-1.
 
Lee was the lone player in the game with multiple hits, going 2-for-3. He was also the only one to record both an RBI and a run scored.
Dylan Badura (0-1) started for the Broncs, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out three in five innings.
 
The Broncs and Islanders conclude this four-game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
